She attended Nansemond County schools. She was a faithful member of Joy Apostolic Ministries. She loved the Lord with all her heart and paid her tithes faithfully. Mother Barrett loved attending Sunday school and studied the bible faithfully, making sure she covered all the lessons. She enjoyed traveling, singing, game shows, wordbook puzzles, and playing dominoes.
She leaves to cherish her memory her three sons, Larry D. Whitfield (Virginia) of Portsmouth, VA, Lapourt Davis, Jr. of TX, and James A. Davis of TX; devoted daughter, Iris L. Davis of Suffolk, VA, Margaret A. Colander of Oxon Hill, MD, and Brenda Whitfield of Portsmouth, VA; seven grandchildren; one uncle, William "Mack" Whitfield; two honorary daughters, Delois Strothers (Dwayne) and Denise Teal (Jeri); and a host of family and friends.

Delores and i will never forget the joy, wisdom and laughter that you shared. We are better because of your love, tenderness and care. we thank God for the opportunity to have been shaped and chiseled more into the image of the Lord Jesus Christ by your love, fellowship, friendship and honesty. Rest in the Lord Mother, He promised this to you.
