With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Iris Guerrero, who departed this life on January 7, 2026, at the age of 93.
Born on April 15, 1932, in Topeka, Kansas, Iris was the beloved daughter of Vicente Toledo and Eulalia (Lemuz) Toledo. She attended both public and parochial schools in Topeka before pursuing her passion at Cosmetology School. She went on to enjoy a remarkable 60-year career as a beautician, touching countless lives with her skill, warmth, and dedication.
Iris later worked in the Lens Department at Duffens Optical for 15 years, retiring in 2001. Even in retirement, her commitment to caring for others continued. She served as a Guardian in nursing home facilities, supporting the families of her former beauty clients by helping ensure their loved ones received attentive and compassionate care.
She is survived by her children: Laura Rivera (Luis), Sharon Cruz (Frank), Greg Florez, Eddie Florez, and Iris Monique Ramos-Sanders (Cliff); two stepdaughters, Laura Alley and Frances Guerrero-Borjon; and her sister, Irene Barron of Plainview, Texas. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Iris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francisco Guerrero; her sisters, Maria Padilla, Ignacia Guerrero, Joaquina Campos, and Ramona Shump, and her step-son, Charles Guerrero.
Services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 201 NE Chandler Street, Topeka, KS 66616. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a parish rosary from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Iris’s name be made to: Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church
