Iris McBride Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holt Family Funeral Home on Mar. 6, 2026.
Iris Ann McBride of Williamsburg, Colorado passed away on February 25, 2026 in Pueblo, Colorado.

Iris was born to John and Virginia McBride (nee Conard) in Otero County on September 30, 1941. She was raised in Manzanola, Colorado with her siblings Harold and Janet.

Iris graduated from Manazola High School in 1959. She then attended Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado, where she met her future husband David Richard Batchelor.

Afterwards, Iris moved to Denver and lived in the Denver Metro Area until 2009, when she moved to Williamsburg upon reconnecting with David Batchelor.

During her years in Denver, Iris kept busy with work selling shoes, waiting tables and she was even a clown for a time. It was during these years that she had two children, Sharilene Ann Bethel and John Myron Frederick Jr.

Throughout her life, Iris liked to be involved in all the organizations important to her, whether it was with her local church, Studebaker and AA clubs. A devout Christian, Iris kept God as a central figure in her life and always sought churches that would welcome her. She was very proud of her sobriety that lasted 41 years prior to her death. After marrying Dave, she became heavily involved in his Studebaker club.

Iris is survived by her husband, David Batchelor; daughter, Shari Bethel and son, JJ Frederick. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Emma Bethel-Jackson and Braden Ottero.

Iris is remembered most by her enthusiasm for life and new experiences. Always quick with a joke, a story or a smile, Iris was welcomed into every social circle she entered.

Memorial Services will be held at First Christian Church in Canon City, Colorado on March 21, 2026 at 1:30pm. Any cards or other well-wishes can go to Iris and David's home in Williamsburg.
