IRIS CAROL JANE TUCKEY
Iris Carol Jane Tuckey, 89, of Cass City died peacefully in her home on September 8, 2023. She was born on April 30, 1934 in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Iris Clark and Vance Irene Chamberlain. While attending college in Nebraska she met a dashing, blue eyed airman and fell in love. She married Charles H. Tuckey on April 6, 1955 and transitioned from city girl to rural life.
Iris loved her family, the Lord, and her community. She lived a life of service and was quick to volunteer where needed. Iris served on various boards, taught Sunday school, and junior choir at Salem United Methodist and later the Cass City United Methodist Church. She was chairman of the Tuscola County Mental Health Board, chairman of the Rawson Memorial Library Board, led many fundraisers for the community, and was a cub scout and girl scout leader. Her friends will remember Iris’s fantastic hospitality, excellent cooking, and joyful laugh. Above all, Iris was a wonderful wife and mother and truly exceptional “Nonnie”/grandma. She loved her family and liked nothing better than having them all together. Iris was not afraid to try anything and modeled that behavior to her children and grandchildren. She was extremely creative, enjoying sewing, knitting, painting, and crafts of all sorts. Many of you may have received a handmade gift from her at one time or another. Iris was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables.
Iris is survived by her loving husband of sixty-eight years, Charles; their children: Charles R. (Debbie) Tuckey of Dexter, Cindy (Gary) Bader of Cass City, Lori (Rick) Wright of Hardeeville, SC; John Tuckey of Eastanolle, GA; grandchildren: Matthew, David, Joshua, Jenna, Julia, Nicholas, Trevor, Aaron; six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Virgilee Krueck; daughter-in-law, Betsy Tuckey; brother-in-law, George Krueck; nephew, Tom Krueck.
