Irma Abrams Obituary

Irma was born in Brooklyn and resided in Somerville since 1960. She graduated from Kean University at the age of 42 in 1978 with a Bachelors degree in Social Work. She was employed as a social worker at Raritan Health Extended Care for over 30 years. Irma was also a religious school teacher for second grade at Temple Beth El in Hillsborough. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, Robert, having visited over 20 countries in South America, Central America, Europe and Israel.
She is predeceased by her husband Robert Abrams who died in 2017 and sister Phyllis Roth who passed in 2004.
Surviving is her daughter Nancy Bernheimer and her husband Joe, son Stewart and his wife Barbara and four grandchildren Eric and Daniel Bernheimer, Andrew and Jaclyn Abrams, as well as Andrew's wife Zoe Cohen, Jaclyn's husband Scott Middleton, and Daniel's girlfriend Metis Meloche. Irma will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral services will be 12pm Tuesday at Bruce Van Arsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave., Somerville. Interment will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus.
