Irma Christine Alcala, age 73, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 6:00 - 7:30 P.M..
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny DeLeon officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Irma was born on September 25, 1952, in Sweetwater, Texas, to Ralph Alcala and Micaela (Martinez) Alcala. She graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1971. She worked for Ludlum's Measurements as a warehouse clerk for many years before retiring. She was a lifetime resident of Sweetwater. Irma loved all animals, especially her two pets, Kiwi and Buster, who will miss her dearly. You never saw her without her glass of tea in her hand. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her sisters, Sylvia Banks and Otilia Garza, both of Sweetwater; nephews, Jace Garza and Reynaldo Alcala, nieces, Lana Baker and husband Sam and Myra Alcala, great nieces, Alissa Garza, and Harlee Baker, great nephew, Wyatt Moorhead, and great-great nephews, Grayson, Nolan, and Rylan Moorhead.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Micaela Alcala, brother, Ralph Alcala, Jr., great niece, Chloe Baker, and brother-in-law, Phil Banks.
Pallbearers will be Jace Garza, Sam Baker, Steven Wells, Chris Guelker, Rogelio Cantu, Jr., and Adam Ornelas.
