Irma Zeceña Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by De Riso Funeral Home - Brooklyn on Feb. 25, 2026.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Irma Odilia Zecena, born on November 11, 1960, who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Irma was a loving mom, sister, tata, daughter, and friend whose kindness and generosity touched everyone who knew her. She had a heart that gave endlessly - even when she didn't have much herself. If someone needed help, comfort, or simply someone to listen, Irma was always there.

She was thoughtful in the quiet ways that mattered most, always checking in and putting others before herself. She also carried a beautiful sense of humor. Irma had a way of bringing laughter into everyday moments and light into even the darkest days.

Her greatest pride and blessing were her children, Angela, Chris, Garys, and Yuris, who loved her very much. The bond they shared was strong, filled with love, respect, and gratitude for the sacrifices she made for them. She was their strength, their comfort, and their example of unconditional love.

Her greatest joy was being a tata. She loved her grandkids deeply and fiercely - not only those related by blood, but all the children she embraced as her own. To Irma, love is what made a family, and she made sure every child in her life felt cherished and protected.

Even during her fight against cancer, Irma showed incredible strength and grace. Her resilience and unwavering love inspired everyone around her.

Irma Odilia Zecena will be remembered for her generous heart, her laughter, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.

"She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come."

- Proverbs 31:20, 25 (KJV)

Fuerza y honor son su vestidura;

Y se ríe de lo por venir."

- Proverbios 31:20, 25 (Reina-Valera 1960)
