Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herman-Taylor Funeral Home - Wisconsin Rapids on Mar. 3, 2026.
Irvin L. Olson age 92 passed away February 28, 2026, at Aspirus Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.

Irvin was born on October 26, 1933, to Grant and Vernie (Retzlaff) Olson in Wonewoc, Wisconsin. He was part of a large family that consisted of two brothers and five sisters.

On May 2, 1959, he married Elaine Berg. Together they made a life for themselves and their four kids in Wisconsin Rapids. Irvin served his country in the Army and later worked for 42 years at the Biron Mill. After retirement from the mill, he started working seasonal at Northland Cranberries for a few years. Then he went to Auto Electric where he delivered parts until their closure. He finally decided to fully retire at the age of 80.

Irvin enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taking care of his garden. Every year he challenged himself to grow the best tomatoes. When he wasn't tending to his garden, he liked to seek out the best mom and pop restaurants during his random drives out on old country roads.

Irvin was also an avid walker. He would walk for miles at a time and was able to do this all through his 80's. He was a hard man to keep up with.

He is survived by his children: Colleen Olson O'Day (Olson), Karen (John) Pisula, Charles Olson, Korey (Cheridy) Olson; grandkids: Casey (Josh) O'Day Hendricks, Taylor (Tony) Portesi, and Kaylee Olson; great grandkids: Maxon Portesi and Morgan Hendricks; sister, Avis Schroer; and sister-in-law, Lynda Olson.

He is preceded in death by his wife Elaine; sisters: Irene Warnke, Shirley (Virgil) Sonnenberg, Helen Olson, and Betsy (Don) Hansen; brothers: Grant Olson and Keith Olson. and his son in law, Bryan O'Day.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Aspirus Hospital for their care and compassion.
