Irvin D. Steketee age 95, of Holland, was taken into the Arms of his loving Savior on Monday, January 20, 2025, at his home.
He was a member of First Reformed Church of Holland and a former elder. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army from 1951-1953. Prior to serving in the Army, Irv worked for Kirkhoff Electric. In the Army he went to electrical and generator school. Following his discharge from the military, he became a member of the I.B.E.W. and worked as a union electrician.
In retirement he and Marilyn spent the winter months in Florida and enjoyed golfing and spending time in his workshop.
Irv was the son of Peter and Anna Steketee. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Marilyn; children, Sue and Thomas Smith, Thomas Steketee; 9 grandchildren, Heather (Chad) Barton, Sara (Trevor) Finton, Matthew (Jeannette) Smith, Travis Steketee, Joshua Steketee, Christopher Steketee, Tonia Steketee, Jessica Steketee, Megan (Austin) Duzan; 16 great grandchildren; in-laws, Gladys Steketee and Darlene Brink; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services with military honors will be 12 noon Saturday, January 25, 2025, at First Reformed Church, 630 S. State St. Holland. Visitation will be 10-11:45 am prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery. A special thank-you to the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion, Cancer and Hematology Centers of West Michigan, The Inn at Freedom Village, and Hospice of Holland. Memorial contributions may be given to the Right to Life Education Fund and Hospice of Holland.
