Isabel T. Compasso, 94, of Manchester, CT, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, with her loving family by her side. The daughter of the late Rocco and Lena (Ierardi) Montano, Isabel was born on February 14, 1931, in Hartford, CT.
Isabel graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and went on to earn her master's degree in education from the University of Hartford Graduate School. She began her teaching career in the Connecticut public school systems of Manchester, Wethersfield, and South Windsor, later concluding her career at Tunxis Community College and Manchester Community College.
In the next phase of her professional life, Isabel shifted her focus to real estate. She became a mortgage officer and owned several rental properties around Hartford with her partner, Anne Miller.
Isabel had a deep passion for the arts and fashion. When she wasn't volunteering at school, church, or the YMCA, she enjoyed traveling to New York with friends to shop or attend shows. Isabel was always known for her impeccable style and her love of the latest fashions.
Isabel is survived by her son, Gary Compasso, and his wife Michele; her granddaughters, Samantha C. Ford and her husband Michael Ford, and Jordan Friese; and her great-grandson, Miles Ortiz Compasso. In addition to her parents, Isabel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gennaro (Gerald) Compasso, and her brother, Anthony Montano.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, November 18, from 5–7 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow immediately after at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
