Isabel M. Cortinez 87 of Abilene passed away Tuesday May 14 at 1:35 am at Hendrick Hospice Center.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, Thursday May 23, 2024 at 10am with burial to follow at Abilene City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday May 22, from 6-8pm with a Rosary to begin at 7pm at North's Funeral Home Chapel.
Isabel was born July 8, 1936 in Ranger, TX to Carmen Volanos and Miguel Martinez. Isabel lived in Ranger as a child and moved to Abilene. Isabel was known for her kind and caring heart, she loved caring for children. She worked at Day Nursery of Abilene for over 30 years. Isabel loved to listen to music as she did her house cleaning and enjoyed being outside working in her yard. She loved watching her grandkids and great grandkids play baseball and softball, and she specifically liked watching her Texas Rangers. Her favorite singer and actor was Antonio Aguilar,
Isabel was preceded in death by husband of 68 yrs. Ben Cortinez, son Ferman Peralez, daughter Juanita Cortinez, sisters Augustina Gonzales, Bea Hanson, Santos Reyes. Brothers; Andres Martinez, Frank Martinez, John Martinez, granddaughter Maricela Peralez and great grandaughters Melissa Ponce,& Brianna Cadena.
Left to cherish her memories are: daughters, Rachel Cortinez, Ysidra Perez,Julie Fisher all of Abilene, Tx. sisters,Frances Atilano of Stockton CA, Ricarda Wines of Winter Haven Florida, 9 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and many friends. Pallbearers will be: Grandsons: Guadalupe Perez, Valentin Perez, Vicente C. Cruz, Miguel Garcia. Great-grandsons: Mateo Perez, Michael Perez, Vicente J. Cruz, Miguel Garcia II. and honorary pallbearer Zaydin Spencer.
