Isabel Mae Creager
Isabel Mae Creager, 101, passed away on October 4, 2025, in Santa Rosa, CA. She was born at home on June 23, 1924 to Sandel and Ruth Hunt in Dallas, PA. Isabel lived life fully, enjoying family and friends, and lovingly caring for others as a nurse.
After graduating from Dallas Borough High School in 1942, Isabel entered the Cadet Nurse Corps, beginning three years of training at Nesbit Memorial Hospital in Kingston, PA. Upon completion of her training in 1945, she visited her brother, who was serving in the Navy in Pensacola, FL. There she met Edwin F. Creager, naval aviator, great dancer, and fellow music lover. They married in 1946.
Isabel gave birth to Joanne in 1947 and John in 1949 in Princeton, NJ, where the couple lived with Ed's parents after the war. While the children were still small, the family moved to Tucson, AZ and eventually to La Habra, CA. Isabel enjoyed many years as a surgical nurse working at St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton, CA. A life-long Methodist, Isabel was active in choirs, women's circles, and committees, and served as a wedding coordinator with the United Methodist Church in Laguna Hills, CA.
Isabel and Ed moved to Santa Rosa after Ed retired, living in Oakmont for many years. Isabel was active in a writers' group there, completing numerous short stories and a novel. She painted, quilted, knit. She later moved to Spring Lake Village where she continued her creative endeavors and spent happy times with both new friends and friends of long standing.
She especially cherished her outings and trips with daughter Joanne when they celebrated their birthdays together each year.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Creager Conrad of Tucson, AZ, her son John P. Creager and daughter-in-law Jennie M. Hartman of Santa Rosa, CA, niece Ruth Meredith and nephew Peter Meredith, both of Albuquerque, NM, nephew Kurt Creager of Stephens City, VA and nephew Doric Creager of Washington State. She was predeceased by her husband Edwin F. Creager, her parents, her sister Eloise Meredith, and her brother E. Sandel Hunt.
A celebration of life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 1551 Montgomery Dr., Santa Rosa at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 7, 2025.
