Italia Theodora Letitia

Italia Theodora Letitia, age 95, of Plainville, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in the presence of her devoted sons Mark and Wayne Letitia. Born on April 24, 1930, in Fossombrone, a small town in the province of Pesaro and Urbino in central Italy. Italia was the daughter of Modesto and Anna (Conti) Berloni. In 1950, she embarked on a journey across the ocean to reunite with her parents and siblings in New Britain, Connecticut. Determined to build a new life in America, she attended night school to learn English and later found employment at the Stanley Tool Company. On October 31, 1959, Italia married the love of her life, Joseph John Letitia of New Britain. Together they built a beautiful family, and Italia devoted herself to raising and caring for her four sons. In 1964, they moved from New Britain to a new home that abutted miles of beautiful, forested watershed property and orchards in Plainville, Connecticut. Italia also worked for many years at Acme Monaco Spring of New Britain. Italia lived life fully and joyfully. An avid card player, she was still making bus trips to Foxwoods at age 90. She delighted in cooking traditional Italian cuisine, cultivated beautiful flowers and gardens with the green thumb she inherited from her brothers, and found great pleasure in her pets and the wildlife she observed daily from her sunlit back porch overlooking the Plainville watershed forest. Italia is survived by her four sons: Joseph (and Sheila) Letitia of Knoxville, Tennessee; Mark Letitia of Plainville; Todd (and Anna) Letitia of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Wayne Letitia of Hamden. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Maddie Pace, Henry and August Letitia, Elijah and Joshua Letitia, and Gabriel, Sophia, Vivien and Adeline Letitia; as well as her great-grandchildren: Lakyn Letitia, Isabelle, Eliza and Abel Baker. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Emma Berloni and many loving nieces and nephews. Italia was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Letitia, her parents Modesto and Anna Berloni, her brothers Gino and Fulvio Berloni, and her sister Ada Ceramicoli. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday morning, December 6, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Plainville, followed by burial at Saint Joseph's Cemetery.
