Ivan Orrie Reddest, Sr. was born on October 12, 1970, in
Pine Ridge, South Dakota to Orville Reddest, Sr. and Wilma Leonard. Ivan made his journey to the Spirit World on January 16, 2026, at his home in Lost Dog Creek, South Dakota.Ivan was a diligently driven and active student in his youth. He graduated from Crazy Horse School on May 21, 1989, as the Valedictorian of his class. Amongst his success in the classroom, he was also very competitive in sports. He participated in extracurricular activities including football, cross country, basketball, and track. When he wasn't in his classes or playing sports, he enjoyed riding horses all throughout Lost Dog Creek. Furthering his education, he attended Western Dakota Vocational Technical Institute for Auto Body and received his diploma on May 18, 1990.
As an adult Ivan was extremely committed to his role in the Maintenance Department at Little Wound School, where he dedicated his time for the past 16 years. He deeply valued the friendships that he had developed with his coworkers, fellow staff members, and the community. His impact was felt through his genuine kindness, humorous nature, and reliability.
Beyond his education and career, Ivan was a strong-willed individual and through his perseverance, he lived a modest life that was led by selfless devotion. He asked for little and gave a lot in return, as he greatly cherished the generous heart that he had for others. Ivan always helped his family, friends, and acquaintances in need, with a sincere passion.
Ivan was a talented traditional craft maker and his work created drums, head roaches, and pipes amongst numerous other beautiful works of art.
Ivan not only grew up in Lost Dog Creek, but it is where he lived his life and spent his final days. He was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, father, uncle, grandpa, and friend who will be truly missed by all those who knew him.

Ivan was preceded in death by his mother Wilma Leonard; father, Orville Reddest, Sr., his wife, Deanna Reddest; his sons, Jeremiah Reddest, Ivan Reddest, Jr.; grandparents, Eugene Reddest, Ellen Hollow Head-Reddest, Roland Bear Killer, Sr., Cherry Bear Killer-Langdeau; aunts, Diane Reddest, Flora Bullman, Gwen Bullman; uncles, Sidney Reddest, Sr., Windell Reddest, Leroy Reddest, Cleveland Reddest, Duane Reddest, Leroy Bear Killer, and Larry Bear Killer, Sr.; and cousins, Royal Bull Bear, Devonna Bull Bear, Kay Bull Bear, Demitri Means, Sugar Ray Marshall, and Gwendolyn Reddest.
