Ivory Nelson Bowen

    Ivory Nelson Bowen, affectionately known as Buddy, passed away on January 6, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and hard work. Born on January 9, 1947, in Belgrade, Missouri, Buddy touched the lives of countless individuals throughout his life.

    Buddy was a man of unwavering dedication and commitment to his family. He cherished the bond he shared with his loved ones and fervently demonstrated his love and support. His strong work ethic served as an inspiration to those around him. Buddy's determination and resilience were evident in every aspect of his life, as he consistently displayed devotion to his family and pursued excellence in all that he did.

    In addition to nurturing his familial relationships, Buddy possessed a profound passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who found solace and joy in nature. Working with cows and tending to hay fields formed a fundamental part of his identity. Moreover, farming was not just a livelihood for Buddy; it was a lifelong passion that brought him immense satisfaction. He also found kinship among fellow members of the Washington County Coon Club.

    Buddy's sense of duty extended beyond his immediate circle; he proudly served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. His military service instilled in him values of honor, bravery, and loyalty, which remained core principles throughout his life. Buddy held profound reverence for the sacrifices made by servicemen and women across generations.

    He was preceded in death by his mother, Lottie Mae (Lawson) Bowen; father James Ivory Bowen; brothers Ernie Bowen and Willie Bowen; sisters Myrtle Kean, Ruby Anderson, Lilly Baker, Deloris Dotson, Ruth Wilkinson, and Hazel Peebles; as well as grandchildren Michael Bowen Jr., and Melody Wade - Buddy's memory will live on through those whose lives he touched.

    He is survived by his loving daughter, Sharon Bourbon, and her husband Billy, as well as his son Mike Bowen. Buddy's sisters Loretta DeClue and Edna LaChance, Brother-in-law Butch Wilkinson and wife Loretta mourn his passing alongside their extended family. He will also be remembered by grandchildren Kayla (A.J.) Long, Megan (Dalton) Harmon, Matthew (Stefanie) Bourbon, Chris (Nicole) Bowen, Shayla Hurt, Carrie Wade, and Ashlee Patel. Furthermore, 17 great-grandchildren carry forth Buddy's legacy of love and devotion.

    Friends recall Buddy as a pillar of strength and compassion. His unwavering support for both family and friends has left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, wisdom, and genuine care for others will be profoundly missed.
