J.B. (Julius Byers) Tobler Obituary

Published by Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services - North on Jun. 18, 2017.
Our beloved father, J. B. (Julius Byers) Tobler of Austin, TX peacefully passed into eternal glory on Father's Day, June 18th, 2017 and is now in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was 92 years old. J.B. was born in San Antonio, Texas, on Apr 16, 1925, son of Henry Julius and Lelia Strange Tobler. He married his high school sweetheart, Alma Jerline, in 1950 and together they had three sons, Robert, Douglas and Garth. He is survived by a brother, Henry Tobler of El Paso, TX, a Sister¬ in-Law, Wilma Deleon of Burnet, TX, sons Robert (Rita) Tobler of Kyle, TX, Doug (Linda) Tobler of Austin, TX, and Garth Tobler of Oneonta, AL, grandchildren Justin of Taylor, TX, Wacey Uess) of Leander, TX, Zachary of Austin, TX and Austin of Oneonta, AL, three great- grandchildren - Blaine, Ava Grace and Olivia Jane, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by Jerline, his wife of 59 years. JB grew up in San Antonio and moved to Austin, TX in the late 1940's. At age 17 (in 1942) he enlisted in the US Navy and valiantly served in both WWII and the Korean Wars. After the Navy, JB attended civil engineer training and worked several jobs, one of which was for the City of Austin as Chief Draftsman. He was able to name three streets off of Dessau Road: Tobler Trail, Alma Drive, and Byers Lane. JB then worked for private companies Bryant and Carrington Constructors, Inc., and Freddy Dipple at Carlson & Dipple until he retired in the early 1980s. JB was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Pflugerville, TX, and Austin Oaks Church in Austin, TX. He loved the Lord and was a cherished member of both churches. We all take comfort in knowing that he is now forever rejoicing with our Savior, Jesus. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Weed-Corley-Fish North Lamar Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Memorial Hill Park Cemetery, 14501 I-35, Pflugerville, TX. A potluck reception will be held following the graveside at Providence Presbyterian Church, 17712 N Heatherwilde Blvd, Pflugerville, TX.
