A gracious and respectable person whose work has done so much to bring so much joy to many of us in these troubled times hard to deal with (2 Tim 3:1). Perhaps more will continue to have positive experiences from a wonderful work that has had an impactful contribution to life and its anxieties.

His books were the first adult books i read. The intervening years have done nothing to lessen their power. Their ability to inspire never dims and their strange beauty never fades. I thank his gift for the recognition it has given me and their help in making my thoughts soar.

For J.G....Your story as told
by the movie Empire Of The Sun
is one of the most moving
motion pictures I have ever
seen.

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

JG and Margaret would come to my restaurant in Shepherds Bush London. So kind, funny and witty I loved them both. I had the privilege of serving JG his first hamburger in 1998 (posh of course!)He said it was great and he loved it...... but would probably never order it again. Life is too short,I wish JG and Margaret could live together for a thousand years.

Love always

Dear Ballard Family,
J.G. Ballard had an amazing gift to draw people into his world of print and make them think and reflect on matters. I've heard of survivors of long internments developing a true appreciation for what really matters, "the simple things in life," love, family, etc.
“For everything there is an appointed time, even a time for every affair under the heavens…” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8).
I know the bible says we are only promised 70 or 80 years because of Adamic sin. But it also promises, (Acts 24:15) "and I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous” (Acts 24:15).
This wonderful hope I want for your dear loved one as well. At any rate I'm saddened by your loss.

Dear family,

Know my heart goes out to you at this time of passing.
As I have watched "The Empire of the SUN" several times it helped me to understand some of what WWII was like.

Thank you and God bless!

The movie,Empire of the Sun, has remained with me. I well recall the WWII newsreels & news stories of displaced persons, lost children and separated families. Perhaps one day I will be able to personally thank Mr. Ballard for the experience he so bravely & unflinchingly recorded.

J G Ballard was a great writer, a true maverick of Science Fiction and from what I can gather a thoroughly decent human being. I believe his novels are in many ways commentaries and cautionary tales for the modern world. As we, the human race, seem endlessly on the brink of doom, as the globe warms, as the bees die, as the financial system implodes, his seering eye into our darkest impulses, his ability to cut through to the marrow of life will be greatly missed.

My heart goes out to you at this time of great sorrow. Reading Psalms 121 is a very comforting scriptural passage. There you will find assurance of Our Heavenly Father's support to help you cope during these difficult days. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

"Empire of The Sun" is an all time favorite movie of mine. The story is so beautifully poignant and the visuals are stunning! I never knew it was about a real personal experience. Thank you J.G.
Ballard for sharing that part of your life with me. May God hold you in the palm of his hand. And, may the Peace of Christ be with your family and friends.

I have always thought of his movie 'Empire of The Sun' to be a great movie and it has stood out in my mind for years. I wish that I had met Mr. Ballard and told him myself. He inspired me to write stories about my childhood as well. Thank you for your talents and god bless you, your family and friends. I am sure you will be missed greatly. Mr. Ballard's writing embraces a range of human behavior that is always thought provoking. An iconoclast to the end, and a massive talent who will be missed. Peace.
