J. Lawrence Hajduk

J. Lawrence (Larry) Hajduk, 68, of Markleysburg passed away on December 17, 2024.
Born in Brownsville, PA, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Hajduk and grew up in Denbo, PA
He was a graduate of Bethlehem Center High School, California University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor (JD) law degree. Coming from a working-class family, Larry worked nights and weekends as a Centerville Borough Police Officer to put himself through law school.
Larry was very hardworking and a self-starter. He practiced law for many years and was the founder of the J. Lawrence Hajduk and Associates Law Firm. Over the years, he had law offices in Uniontown, Markleysburg, Mount Pleasant, Somerset, Rostraver Township and Morgantown, WV, to help better serve his clients. He had also previously served as Solicitor for Henry Clay Township.
In his younger years, he was a former EMT and firefighter with the Denbo-Vesta 6 Volunteer Fire Department and also was a member of the Markleysburg Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a devout Roman Catholic and was a member and usher at the St. Joan of Arc R.C. Church in Farmington.
Larry was a simple, no-frills person and loved living his mountain life with his family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and having wildlife right outside his window and at his doorstep. He knew how just about everything worked and could answer questions or fix just about anything. He was kind, caring and generous, and had many friends from all walks of life.
Larry was a true American patriot and loved flying his American flag proudly.
He is survived by his devoted sister, Donna (Rich Schmidt) and loving and caring niece, Maggie Schmidt, his wife of 38 years, Mary Len, daughter Carrie (Travis) Attaway and grandchildren Alia (Christian) Berardi, Isabella Leonardo and Garrett Attaway, all of whom he loved. Larry was his happiest teaching them about life, and providing his wisdom and unique understanding of the world. Larry is also survived by many godchildren and even more nieces and nephews as well as several cousins.
Friends and family will be received at the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, FARMINGTON, PA on Friday December 27 from 3-8pm. Additional Visitation will be held on Saturday December 28 from 9am until 9:30am when prayers of transfer will be held followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joan of Arc Church, Farmington. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Brownsville.
