J Harold Dean Walker was born to parents, J Dee and Mildred Walker in Hastings Nebraska on May 31st, 1937. The family moved to Kearney shortly thereafter.
He attended school in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School in 1955.
At age 17, J joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Hawaii for 2 years before returning. He married Lois Lorraine Johnson on June 22, 1958. He stayed in the Navy for 21 years, lived in several states, and retired with the rank of Senior Master Chief. After retiring from the Navy, J, Lois, and their 2 children moved to Amherst in 1975 and J would take a job with Buffalo County as the Veterans service officer. In 1985 J and Lois moved back to Kearney and stayed there until J retired from his position in 1989. They followed their children to Lincoln where he then became a State Veterans Service Officer until he finally retired for good in 2003. Lois passed on November 27, 2000 in Lincoln.
In 2004, J reconnected with old friend Lou Shields and they spent 19 wonderful years together traveling and enjoying this 2nd chapter in their lives. They resided in
Mesa, Arizona, until J's death on July 10, 2023
J leaves behind Daughter Kris Decker (Brian Decker) of Lincoln, and their 4 children Devyn, Gavin, Kiersten, and Steffan (Lacey Simmons) and their 2 children Roslyn and Max.
Son Jeff Walker and partner Ann Stokebrand of Crete and Jeff's sons Jacob (Ashley McGee), Joshua (Sarah Varilek), and Jordan (Lindsay Hargraeves).
His brother Jerry Walker and his wife Pat of Conyers, GA.
His love, Lou Shields of Mesa, AZ and bonus children Lori (Shields) Pedersen of Lincoln with Grandchildren: Heather (Forrest Clemmons) of Bennet and her 3 children, and Grant Shields of Wichita, KS and his 2 children. Monica (Severn Edwards) of
Medina, Ohio with granddaughters Mariah, Cassidy, and Caitlyn. Anthony Shields and his wife Simone of
Mesa, Arizona with grandson, Ian Shields.
He was preceded in death by his Parents Mildred and Dee, sister Delores and husband Al Dobberstein and their son Scott, sister Yvonne and husband Rodger Hansen, brother-in-law Dale Sickler, and daughter-in-law Gretchen Walker.
