J. Jackson Woods, age 90, of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on April 7, 2007 at Jennersville Regional Hospital. He was the husband of Helen (nee Dudek) Woods, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Toughkenamon, PA, he was the son of the late Harry M. Woods, Sr. and Blanche Powell Bergman. Mr. Woods was the former assistant postmaster in Avondale, PA. He retired in 1982 as manager of Tingle�s Mens� Shop, where he was employed for 36 years. Mr. Woods was a veteran of World War II serving in the E.A.M.E. Campaign. He was the first elected commander of Swayne, Campbell, Testa Post #5467, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also served as commander of the Chester County Council of the V.F.W. and was also a member of American Legion Post #491. He was treasurer of the now defunct �Clam Club� and chairman of the Civil Defense Group. Mr. Woods was active in the local Republican Precinct politics for over 35 years. He was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Kennett Square, the local Beautification Committee, and the S.E.C.C. Historical Society. Mr. Woods had a long time passion for his high school graduating class and was permanent chairman of the Reunion Committee of the Kennett High School Class of 1934. He was actively engaged in the operation of the Union Hill Cemetery Co. where he served as President from 1979 to 1987. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gregory T. Woods of San Francisco, CA; a daughter, Judith W. Nowark of Wilmington, DE ; grandchildren, Mandy and Dave Witulski of Newark, DE and Stephanie and Bob Allee of Chambersburg, PA; and by great grandchildren, Emma and Jack. His funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home (610-444-4116), 250 W. State St., Kennett Square, PA 19348. Family and friends may call from 9 to 11 before the service. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery. Contributions in Mr. Woods� memory may be made to the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home.
