Every year at this time Jack and I reached out to each other by phone to wish each other happy birthday, this has been a tradition for almost fifty years. I met Jack when he and I were both freshmen at Ohio Wesleyan and students in the music department. Over the years he brought his Alma College Band to the church in Toledo, where I was organist, later appeared as clarinet soloist with a chamber orchestra that I had organized, and often invited me to play an organ recital at whatever church he was serving as their musician. Not only was Jack an excellent musician, but he had the talent and vision to organize people and institutions to produce spectacular concerts. We both shared a belief that the world was a better place when people participated and were uplifted by participating in the arts. When I called this year, the line was no longer in service and my emails went unanswered. I realized something was wrong, and yesterday my google search produced his obituary and this site. Jeff and Kathleen, please accept my condolences. I am still processing all of this and hope that we can be intouch at some point. Jack, Rest in Peace, Jim Hammann

I met Jack at Sunnyside on McArthur when we sat beside each other at the counter. We talked about both being new to OKC and our passions. Thereafter, I would see Jack there and at the other Sunnyside and share news. We brainstormed some of his projects together and I looked forward to updates on all of them when we would meet in or near other restaurants in the Village. I respected and was inspired by him and like him wanted to continue to work in my field long after some thought we should be sitting quietly in front of a TV. Not for Jack! He was a talented and great man in what he accomplished over his life but never proud or arrogant. I was very sad to hear of his death and wish his family my condolences.
