Jack Arnold Carruth

Jack Arnold Carruth, 70, of Denham Springs, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012. He was born in Clinton, LA and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. He is survived by his twin brother, Jim Carruth and wife, Helen; younger brother, Randy Carruth, and wife, Carla; children, Blaine and Wade Carruth, Micah Murchie and wife, Denise, and Stacy Carruth Dugas and husband, Rusty; grandchildren, Jacob and Julia Carruth, Brandon and McKenzie Murchie, and Grace and Grant Dugas. He is also survived by his nephews, Troy and Tyler Carruth and niece, Amy Carruth Venable. He was preceded in death by parents, Stewart and Bessie Carruth, and daughter Kayrnn Carruth Kelly. Jack graduated from Istrouma High in 1960 and Southeastern Louisiana University in 1964 with a degree in education. He began his career teaching chemistry at Istrouma and Glen Oaks High Schools and spent the rest of his career in the chemical industry. His career led him to New Jersey, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Texas, but he always called Baton Rouge his home. Jack has traveled to 19 countries and has been around the world several times. He had an enthusiasm for life and a passion for people. He was a member of Istrouma Masonic Lodge. Visitation will be at Amite Baptist Church, 7100 Amite Church Road, Denham Springs, on Monday, Dec. 31, from 10 a.m. until memorial service at 11 a.m., officiated by Dr. Terry Booth. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude or a charity of choice.
