I just found this today, many years after my Uncle Jack has passed. My father, Viets Collister, was Uncle Jack's brother. Boy did those two crack eathother up! Uncle Jack was a genuine soul, such a sweet, giving man. He loved the Lord. I have so many regrets not being able to spend more time with him, but living in Arizona made it difficult. He came to visit us as much as he could. He would always grab the check at dinner! He was a stinker some times. I wish I could have spend so much more time with you, Uncle Jack. You were a doll, and although you are gone in the flesh, I know I will see you in Heaven, probably on the golf course somewhere with my dad. Or playing cards with Grampa Colton. You were a hoot! You were a blessing. I love you sooooo much, and I have always missed you. I'm sorry I didn't call you more. Love, your loving niece, Liz.

Ellie & Keith,
Jack built the home I still live in 22 years later. I enjoyed working with him, golfing with him, but most of all laughing with him. What a sense of humor. Heaven gained a great man today. My condolences.

Dearest Ellie, Keith and precious grandchildren,

I am so sorry for your loss. Jack was a wonderful man. No one who crossed his path was ever a stranger. Ellie, you two were such a great couple! My heart aches for you, my friend. We will see him again, Ellie.

Much love, Deb Deal Ps 121

To Ellie, Keith and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. He was such a happy, fun loving guy. My husband (John Graven) and I were on a bowling league with Jack and Ellie an it was so much fun always. His family was so blessed to have him this long. He will be sorely missed. God Bless you all!!

Ellie, Bob and I are so sorry to hear about Jack. We knew him only slightly but I remember him to be a happy and smiling person. Take comfort in the many memories you have, and again our deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Jack,

You were a very special person in my life, and I know that I can speak for Mark as well. We were partners in the building business for almost 20 years, and what a team we made!! We managed to complement each other in many ways...I think you would agree with that. And wow, did I ever learn a lot from you too along the way!! I learned how to read and work with all of those crazy blueprints, what not to say to the carpenters, plumbers and framers, and how to treat people too. You always had that certain charisma that drew people inthey loved you!! It was real, and very admirable. I know that I always admired you for that.

While it's been about six years now since you and I have built together, I think back to those 20 years with fondness and gratitude. Fondness, for you just being you..asking me where my work boots were, for wondering what I was planning to tweak now, for driving me home when I locked my keys in my car, and for all the coffee and donuts you brought me along the way. Gratitude, for all the little things I learned and got to do with you, from walking all of those lots and finding the best ones (you were great at that!), to introducing me to all of the people at the city, and walking all of the many, many homes we built and giving me your comments and suggestions when something just wasn't right to me. I was always so grateful for that!

Jack, it was a great run, and Mark and I will miss you very much!

Jack Colton, my former father in law, was the most wonderful father in law a girl could ask for ! He was kind, generous, giving, humorous and bigger than life. He was the most loving , supportive and dedicated grandfather that my son Keith, and his half sister Julia, could have ever hoped to have. How he adored his grandchildren ! He loved his family and his friends, and supported financially many charitable causes. He is going to be greatly missed , but will always be loved and cherished by the people who's lives he so wonderfully touched. RIP Jack and know how much you are still loved.
