Embert (Jack) Jackson Conoly Sr., formerly of Tifton, Georgia, passed away at 98 years old on January 20, 2026, at Aviata of Tallahassee, Florida. He was born on October 9, 1927, in Albany, Georgia, and lived a fulfilling life marked by dedication and love for his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Ann (Baby) Norris, family and country.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. Military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends before the service at the funeral home from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Jack served 40 months in the U.S. Navy, as an aviation electrician, assigned to VPB-28, a patrol and submarine hunter squadron in the Philippines. After his military service he married the love of his life, Liz, and was graduated from the University of Georgia, with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1956. He enjoyed a rewarding and successful career as forester, surveyor, and eventually retired from the University of Georgia’s Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton, Georgia.
Jack had a life-long love for history, vegetable gardening and aviation, and many years after his service, he took flying lessons and enjoyed flying with friends and family members for several years.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Liz, who passed in 2017; father, Walter Hugh Conoly; mother, Maude Beasley Conoly; sister, Rheba Conoly Cason; brother, Hugh Conoly, Jr.; brother, J. Calvin Conoly; brother, William (Bill) Conoly; brother Dan Conoly; and brother Robert (Bob) Conoly.
Jack is survived by his son, Embert (Bert) Jackson Conoly, Jr., and Bert’s partner Stasi McKenzie, of Lloyd, Florida, and daughter, Nancy Elaine Conoly, and Nancy’s partner Larry Jordan, of Tifton, Georgia. He was very proud of his four grandchildren, Molly Raynor, Abbey Hutto, Christopher Conoly, and Erin Libersat. eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren as well as several very special nephews and nieces.
