Jack David Cooper, born March 31, 1962, in Liberty, TX and gained his Heavenly wings on February 18, 2025, at the age of 62 with his Pastor by his side.

He was a beloved son, brother, father, and friend to many. David was known as Dad, or “hey brother what ’cha doing,” or Uncle David or just plain “COOP” to friends. He attended Hull-Daisetta ISD through 12 years of school and graduated in 1980. While in school David played football, baseball, tennis and ran track. He was a member of the FFA; the Nat’l Beta Club, Honor Society; and was chosen to represent HD as a “BOBCAT to Washington” his senior year in school. The most important and memorable part of David’s schooling at Hull-Daisetta was being a senior player on the 1979 State Champion Football Team. He was so very proud to have been a part of that year and event in HD history and he never forgot it. Upon graduating, David elected to go to work instead of going to college on a baseball scholarship to Alvin Jr College. He said work was more important at that time in his life. David hired on with Texaco Inc, which soon became Huntsman, Inc and worked for the company 30 years before retiring. In his spare time David watched football, college, and pro, with family or friends and he was also a big fan of NASCAR. David loved to cook for everybody and always cooked enough to feed others. If you wanted a crawfish boil, he was the “master” at boiling the crawfish and all the trimmings that went with it. David didn’t mind helping people, so if family or friend called on him, he was there. He may have been “rough around the edges” but David will be remembered in the hearts of so many for years to come and loved by his church family at Central Baptist Church of Daisetta where he was raised and was a member.

David is preceded in death by parents, Mother Bonnie Fregia Cooper Stengler and stepfather Howard Stengler; the late George C. Cooper Jr.; twin grandsons Jeremy and Jax Cooper; sister Gayle McDaniels; and brother in laws Gerald Broom, Ray Holder and Herbert McDaniels Sr. He is survived by sons Joshua Cooper and wife Meagan of Beaumont, TX, Dillon Cooper and fiancé Kelsey of Moss Hill, TX; sisters Cheryl Broom and Carol Holder of Daisetta, TX; and brother Tracy Stengler of Daisetta, TX. Davids’ grandchildren are Jackson, Jace, Brooklyn and Chloe Cooper. Proud to call him Uncle are nephews Brandon Broom (Lexi), Kameron Holder, Garrett Stengler and Herbert McDaniels Jr. (Melli), nieces Kandyce Stengler Tousha and Helen McDaniels Rubio; and cousin Paula Cooper. David was great uncle to a handful of nephews and nieces, friend to host of others including his extended family of Kenneth and Tanya Fregia, Elmira McBride, Leeann Vanya Melonson and Kelly Lloyd Williamson.

Honoring David as pallbearers are Joshua Cooper, Dillon Cooper, Tracy Stengler, Brandon Broom, Kameron Holder, Malcolm Hughes and Herbert McDaniels Jr. Honorary pallbearers are the entire 1979 State Champion Football Team “coaches-players-waterboy”.

In celebration of his life, friends and family are invited to join for a visitation on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Central Baptist Church, located on Red Bud in Daisetta, Texas. Following this time of remembrance, a funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM, also at Central Baptist Church. David will find his final resting place at Guedry Cemetery in Batson, Texas.
