Jack Horton Cooper

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jack Horton Cooper, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who departed this life on January 9, 2026, at the age of 90. Jack was born in 1936, in Andover, Virginia, and he lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and a deep love for his family.

Jack’s journey began in Andover, where he laid the foundation of his life. He later embraced a career as a truck driver in the transportation industry, a role through which he traversed many miles and built lasting connections with those he encountered on the road. His commitment to providing for his family was unwavering, and he instilled strong values of resilience and diligence in his children. 

In addition to his successful career, Jack proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1957. His service to his country was a source of pride for him and his family. 

Jack is survived by his daughter Beverly Wheatley and husband Mark, son Jack D Cooper and wife Jill, stepchildren Jim Tuller and wife Sandy, Ed Tuller, and Debbie Hicks and husband Tom, eight grandchildren (Ashley, Tyler, Tina, Jennifer, Stephen, Ashley, David and Sophia) and many great grandchildren. He will also be deeply missed by his brothers, Hugh Cooper and Larry Cooper, and his sister, Judy Willingham. The bonds of family were always central to Jack’s life, and his legacy will continue through those he cherished. 

Family and friends are invited to honor Jack's life and memory. A gathering of friends and family will occur on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 3:00-3:30 PM at Loomis Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service beginning at 3:30 PM. Jack will be laid to rest during a private graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery. 

As we remember Jack, we celebrate a life well lived and a spirit that touched many. His contributions to his family and community, along with the love he shared, will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace. 

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Daisy “Pearl” Cooper, wives Betty and Carol, and sisters Margie Kilgore and Mary Halcomb.
