Jack Gabriel Dickens passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2024, at 75. Born on May 25, 1949, in Gulfport, MS, he was a graduate of Gulfport High School. Dickens was a firefighter, Army veteran, and brick mason who earned "Fireman of the Year." He taught astronomy at USM and enjoyed various hobbies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold “Jack” Dickens and Beulah “Ebb” Dickens; his beloved wife, Patsy F. Dickens; his grandson, Kenneth Tyler Payne; and his brother, Murphy Capers.
He was survived by his children, Glenn Kevin Evans, Gregory Keith Evans, and Kendra Renee Purser; grandchildren, Hayden R. Clegg, Alyssa N. Carrasco, and Katherine N. Evans; great-grandchildren, Vivienne Payne, Asa Payne, Carson Clegg, Cooper Clegg, Noah Carrasco, Viola Carrasco, Jameson Carrasco and Olive Carrasco; brothers, Joel Capers and Harold Dickens; and dogs, Zek and Ollie.
A service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 12:00pm at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. Friends may visit 2 hours prior. Interment will be at Gulf Pines Cemetery.
