Dixie Cowart Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Broussard's Mortuary - Major Drive on Nov. 21, 2023.
Dixie Lois Cowart, 86, of Lumberton, died Monday, November 20, 2023. She was born on April 11, 1937, to Leavie Etta McDonald Primrose and Clyde Otis Primrose, in Hemphill.
Dixie was a faithful Christian, Bible School teacher, and wife of an Elder of the church. She loved to entertain, and her parties were always the hottest ticket in town with an open table policy. Dixie loved to sing with her family. She was a lifetime member and past president of the PTA. Dixie was always winning something, was very competitive, outgoing for her children, was a good cook, and loved to feed anyone around. Her over-the-top approach to life aided her in her many school carnival booth wins. She was a talented seamstress with many outstanding costumes to her credit including making the mascot for Gulf State Utility. Dixie never met a stranger and was always there with a kind word. She will be deeply missed and well-remembered.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Cowart; children, Sandra Deloney and her husband, Jody, of Lumberton and Pat Cowart and his wife, Peggy, of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Ryan Deloney and his wife, Megan, Sean Cowart, Bekah Hale, and Callie Cowart; great-grandchildren, Keira Deloney, Barrett Hale, and Mason Hale; and siblings, Dot Istre, Fran Carder, Shirley Wilson, Mary Jane Beard, Bill Primrose, and Pansy Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Otis Primrose and Jack Primrose; and sisters, Lily Carr and Faye Berry.
A gathering of Mrs. Cowart's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 24, 2023, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Broussard's, with her interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
