It was years before I realized my childhood friend who lived four doors up Morrison street was the vocalist I danced to in college. Fond memories of the good old days. The whole neighborhood knew when they were practicing in his garage. Sorry I didnt know in time to reconnect before his early demise.

R.I.P. my friend. Jack Ely and I first connected in 1959 at Washington H.S. when I recruited Jack to be my singing trio's guitar accompianist. We became the Continental Four. At the same time, Jack, along with Lynn Easton, Mike Mitchell and Bob Nordby were forming The Kingsmen. Our music took us in different directions, but we both ended up in Central Oregon. In the 1980's we teamed up again and played a few weekends at the Tumalo Emporium lounge. In 2001 I sat down with Jack to write an article about The "Voice" of Louie Louie for my Cascades East magazine. While Jack Ely was (and will remain) a rock and roll legend he may not have fully benefitted from the rewards. I'm constantly reminded of Jack when I'm bowling as they play oldies and goldies and never fail to play Louie Louie. I'm always proud to say that's my friend singing. My condolences to Wendy his wife, Jill his sister and Sean his son. God Bless, Geoff Hill

Thank you, Jack Ely, for being part of the classic years while growing up in GA during my life. Louie Louie was huge during those years and is a song I will always warmly remember. You did the song very well. Love the FBI story! I did not know the entirety of it until I read the write-up in the Houston Chronicle. Go now and R.I.P.

Great song that sounded it's best when you (Jack) would sing it. Will never forget back in the '90's a local radio station (FM105) played 24 hrs. of Louie, Louie by different artists (including you) none could sing it as good as you. I about drove my family crazy listening to it all day but didn't care. I 'm going now to Youtube to listen to a tribute of Louie, Louie for you my friend. You will not be forgotten. May God bless and keep you till that blessed day.

What does the worker gain from all his efforts? I have seen the occupation that God has given to the sons of men to keep them occupied. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has even put eternity in their heart; yet mankind will never find out the work that the true God has made from start to finish. I have concluded that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good during their life, also that everyone should eat and drink and find enjoyment for all his hard work. It is the gift of God. My sincere condolence for your loss.
