Jack passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Symphony Tri-Cities at the age of 92. He was born on January 14, 1933 to the late Harold and Madeline (Schupbach) Esseltine in Bay City. On August 15, 1953, he married the love of his life, Barbara, and they spent 61 years together before her passing in 2014. He was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he was active with the Vestry and served as an usher. Jack was a proud United States Army and Navy Veteran. He was a sports fan, especially the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers. He worked at Made-Rite Chips for several years and enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling in his free time. He was a loving and giving person, and has always been very supportive of local charities. He was very family oriented and loved spending time with his family.
Jack is survived by his four children, Barbara (Rick) Brady, Pamela Esseltine, Robert Esseltine and Michael (Dawn) Esseltine; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Jason, Craig, Jennifer, Adam, Joshua, Andrew, Nicole and Michael; many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lindy Esseltine, in 1999.
In honoring Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the Service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Trinity Episcopal Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church Endowment Fund.
