Jack E. Freeman

Jack E. Freeman, 73, of Canton, passed away at 5:44 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at his residence. He was born on February 27, 1952 in Canton, a son of Ernest "Jack" and Tressa C. (Grisolano) Freeman. He married Clara Faye McMillian on December 16, 2016 in Lewistown. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Tracey (Paul) Newsom of Branson, Missouri; Katrina "Buffy" Freeman of North Carolina; Danny (Melody) Freeman of Manito; Jimmy (Pam) Freeman of North Carolina; step-children, Paula Andre, Terry Andre, Michelle (Jeff Hopwood) Kitchen, Rachel (Bill) Utsinger; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, and sister, Blanche Johnson of Canton.
Preceding Jack in death were his parents, and a step-son, Greg Andre.
Jack pursued careers as a painter, was a fellow of odd jobs, and retired from the Pekin Park District, all while playing with several area bands as a drummer. He served as the Canton Lake campground greeter, along with memberships in the Farmington Moose Lodge, Canton Elks Lodge #626, and Canton American Legion Post #16.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, January 26, 2026 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, where a memorial visitation will be from 4:00 PM until the time of the services. Pastor Gary Kruzan will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Canton American Legion Post #16, following the memorial service at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Canton American Legion Post #16.
