Time, day, and date of death: After a brief illness, Jack left his family on Christmas Eve to join his Savior Jesus Christ at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, December 24, 2006 at Finley Hospital.
Services: Funeral services will be on Friday at St. Donatus Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m., followed by cremation.
Visitation: from 3:00 until 7:00 pm on Thursday at Behr's, 1491 Main Street, Dubuque.
Rosary or wake service: There will be a parish wake service said at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at Behr's.
Date and place of birth: Jack was born July 17, 1930 in Marshall, Minnesota, son of Lawrence and Josephine (Hogan) Frost.
Brief personal information: He was raised on the family farm in Jesup, Iowa. He graduated from high school with honors in 1948. With the help of family and a $500.00 scholarship, Jack entered Loras College in Dubuque pursuing Journalism and Pre-Med curriculum. On June 9, 1952, Jack and Luella Meyer were joined in holy matrimony in Chester, Iowa. Jack was accepted to the University of Iowa Medical College and graduated in 1955. He entered private practice as a general practitioner. In 1957 Jack was called to the service of his country. He proudly served with the 8th Air Force as a medical general officer attaining the rank of captain. After his discharge in 1959, Jack returned to the University of Iowa, specializing in Dermatology. Jack and his life partner Luella established Tri-State Dermatology Clinic in 1964 and cared for multiple generations of the same families in Dubuque until his retirement in 1996. He was very proud of his staff, fondly referring to them as his "A-Team." Jack was known as an "Excessive" automobile enthusiast. He campaigned several drag racing cars under the logo "Doctor Orders" through the 50's, 60's and 70's setting several national records in the process. During this period of time he also owned a racing speed shop "Hypo, Inc.". Jack is probably best known as a visionary car collector, acquiring some of the most desirable vehicles in automotive history. Jack also was an aspiring automotive journalist with several published articles. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
