I never met Jack personally, but feel that I know him through his Stepdaughter, Christina & his fur baby, Nala. Jack adopted Nala from Animal Care Society back in January, where I walked her as a volunteer. I saw Jack & Nala´s photo on a Facebook post, earlier this week, about finding Nala a new home. Although, the shelter was happy to help, Christina really didn´t want to return her to them. Through my "animal welfare sisterhood", we were able to find Nala a wonderful home. It was a beautiful ending to a tragic experience. That´s why I always believe there are no coincidences in life...everything happens for a reason. Rest easy Jack until you meet Nala again in paradise.

I met Jack during the early 1990s when he was on the guard force at the Federal Building. I would always see him in the morning when I was coming to work. I would also frequently see him on the steps at the Cathederal of the Assumption on Saturdays when I came to Mass. It always felt good inside to see Jack. I could always feel his deep compassionet true self.
I offer my prayers for all his family and friends.

I remember Jack all the way back to May 1944 when he was brought into our house in St. Paul as my baby brother. My life changed after that, and we grew up together through grade school, Central High, and into our subsequent days at the University of Minnesota. After I moved to California, Jack was the main person over the years spending time with and taking care of our mother and father, which he did to the days of their passing.
Jack had some very difficult times in his life with his service in Viet Nam and the post war days before he entered the AA Program in his late 30s. Since that time, his work and employment in Minneapolis and Louisville was directed to being of service and assistance on a volunteer and employment basis to others in advisory capacities, training, and end of life counseling.
I will miss Jack as a brother with his clarity, passion, and vigor for the things that he loved and became involved with - as he says, at times "purposeful." He and I were not always on the same page, but it was clear that he was a good soul, which was apparent to me as well as those around him. I will also miss our shared common memories of our parents and decades of our lives that we went through together. Jack´s health was tenuous for several years, his time finally came, and he passed peacefully. Yes, we will definitely miss him and now must find a way to heal that part of ourselves going forward. He would want it that way for each of us.

My heartfelt condolences to Jack's family - he was indeed a "good and faithful servant" to all he knew - in the community, his jobs, and his church. Rest in Peace my friend. I will miss you at the Cathedral, always. Prayers for you and all who grieve your loss. Hugs, Chris
