Jack Lee Hazelwood 72 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on February 11, 2023. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 27, 1950, to the late Jasper and Mary Jane (Lynch) Hazelwood. Jack was a graduate of Washington High School and attended Purdue University. Jack proudly served in the United States Navy. He served as a Millwright for Allison Transmission for 37 years retiring in 2016. He was a member of the Plainfield Masonic Lodge #653 F &AM and United Auto Workers Local #933. Jack enjoyed traveling with his beautiful wife, golf, fishing, softball, darts, gambling, watching TV with his faithful sidekick Abbey, he loved everything about Christmas and all the celebration that surrounded the holiday, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and he thoroughly enjoyed and was the proud owner of his 2003 Corvette. His family described Jack as generous, funny, thoughtful, respectful, loyal, intelligent, and a Manly Man. They believe the qualities that he exhibited to them has made them the loving close-knit family that they are today due to their father's example. Jack will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Gina Hazelwood, his children, Michael (Kai) Schmitt, Jack (Laura) Mertes, Brian Hazelwood, Mandi Hazelwood, his grandchildren, Kiley, Danny, Rachel, Harley, Emily, Megan, Lauren, Brooke, Joseph, Mikaiya, six great grandchildren, and his brother, Charles Hazelwood. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Gilchrist. The family invites you to join them as they celebrate Jack's life by sharing in his memory on Thursday, February 16, 2023, 7:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with a time of visitation from 4:00-7:00pm there. His wishes were to be cremated and the family is respecting his wishing regarding that. Memorial contribution may be made to the American Liver Foundation in memory of Jack.
