Jack Hicks
November 26, 1934 - March 11, 2021
Wichita, Kansas - Hicks, Jack C., 86, passed away on March 11, 2021. Jack was born on Nov. 26, 1934 in St Louis, MO to Cliff and Elsie Hicks. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Hicks; daughter, Kathryn Hicks-Tracy. Jack is survived by children, Pam (Kelly Daniels), Doug, Jeff (Emily); grandsons, Jack and John.
Jack worked in broadcasting and came to Wichita in 1968 to do the nightly local news for KAKE TV. In 1983, Jack moved to Dayton, OH where he would continue his broadcasting career with WDTN until his retirement in 2000. He will be remembered for his cool and clean delivery of the news and his keen ability to ad-lib when technical difficulties with footage occurred. Jack (Dad) will be remembered by his family and friends for his ever-listening ear, his great advice, and his quick wit. We respected Jack and his calm demeanor as a newscaster. He was one of the most memorable members of the local broadcasting crews that graced our tv sets and at community events. Thank you for sharing your beloved dad, friend, mentor with all of us. May the memories that linger be those of joy and laughter.
