JACK WALTER KRAMER Jack Walter Kramer, 89, of West Branch, MI (formerly of Westland, MI) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born on March 17, 1935, in Lorain, OH, Jack was the fourth of seven children of Louis and Charlotte Kramer. Following graduation from Michigan Tech University, Jack married the love of his life, Loretta Nightingale, in 1957 and the couple remained devoted to each other and their family for sixty-seven years. Jack worked as an electrical engineer for thirty-seven years with Detroit Edison. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, wood-working, Detroit sports, and cross-country skiing. Jack fulfilled a long-standing dream when he and Loretta built their dream retirement home in West Branch, and they officially retired there in 1994. Many family events were celebrated up north and their children and grandchildren were always welcomed with open arms and much love. Jack's grandchildren will always remember the many ice cream trips, games of cut-throat euchre, hardy pats on the back, and how much pride their grandfather had in their life achievements. These happy years also found Jack active in the local Kiwanis club, St. Joseph Parish, and the Higgins Lake Cross Country Ski Council. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta and his five children, Jenny Nied, Pam (Mark) Stockdale, John (Theresa), Jeff (Elaine), and Ellen (Mark) Cramer and his brother Robert. He will be deeply missed by his seventeen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings: Betty, Don, Lois, Judy and Jim and great-grandson Henry. Visitation will begin on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Father Al Pillarelli will officiate.
