With deep love and heavy hearts, the Mills family announces the passing of Jack Rex Mills, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Jack left us peacefully in his home on the evening of November 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family as they shared memories filled with the wit and charm he always carried. He cherished those moments above all else.
Born on December 28, 1946, Jack grew into one of the kindest and hardest-working men anyone could hope to know. His gentle spirit, steady presence, and unwavering patience shaped the lives around him in immeasurable ways. He never concerned himself with choosing sides when tension or conflict arose; he simply wanted things resolved, healed, and forgotten. Creating peace-quietly and consistently-was one of his greatest gifts.
For over 58 years, Jack shared an extraordinary bond with his wife and lifelong companion, Bardee. Their relationship was rooted in friendship, loyalty, laughter, and countless adventures side by side-carrying them through every chapter of life. Together, they built a family that became Jack's greatest pride and purpose.
Jack was also known throughout the community for his remarkable work ethic and skill as an automobile painter. He began his career at just 16 years old and spent more than five decades mastering his craft. Over the years, he worked for many reputable shops, earning a reputation for precision, dependability, and true artistry. During a good portion of his career, Jack owned and operated his own successful shop, where customers trusted not only the quality of his work but the integrity behind it. He retired at the age of 70, proud of a career built through dedication, honesty, and hard work.
Among the many friendships Jack cherished, one of the most meaningful was with his best friend, Dale Robinson. The two shared many interests including countless days on the golf course, bonding over the game they loved and the easy friendship that came with it. Jack always looked forward to Dale's phone calls-filled with plans and the details of their next tee time. Their connection ran deep, and those who knew them could easily imagine that somewhere in the afterlife, they already have a tee time booked for tomorrow.
Jack found joy in life's simple, meaningful moments: their dogs resting at his feet under the kitchen table, a fishing pole in his hands, hunting in his favorite places, connecting with his sister Judi over the phone, grilling in the backyard, and enjoying a home filled with the familiar chaos of a lively family gathering. He was never happier than when everyone was together, sharing stories and filling the room with food and laughter.
Those who knew Jack will remember him as selfless, forgiving, down-to-earth, and endlessly kind. He made people feel understood, safe, and cared for-whether through a quiet conversation, a reassuring presence, or the steady reliability he offered without ever being asked. His life was a masterclass in humility, strength, and goodness.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Bardee Mills; his loving sister, Judi Bowthorpe; his children, Jakie Mills, Kirk Mills, and Ryan Mills; his grandchildren, Cortney McDonald (Austin McDonald), Chelcee Morgan (Cory Morgan), Amber Marsh (Dave Marsh), Tayler Mills (Ashley Mills), Alakina Mills, Stella Mills, Tage Mills, Zanna Mills, and Posey Mills; his great-granddaughters, Emery McDonald, Tessa Morgan, Savannah Morgan, Oakley McDonald, and Riley Marsh; and-with an extra special announcement and connection-his soon-to-be great-grandson, Jackson Marsh.
Though he is gone, his legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the stories he shared, the traits he passed down, and the countless memories his loved ones will carry for the rest of their lives. He will be missed more than words can express and remembered more deeply than he ever could have imagined.
