Jack W. Needham, 86, of Coal Valley, Illinois, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025, at home with his loving family by his side.
Private services will be held at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with burial at Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Food Pantry.
Jack Walter Needham was born November 30, 1938, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Frank L. and Mary (Kavansky) Needham. He married the love of his life, Joyce D. Beveridge, on August 10, 1959, in Coal Valley. When asked about their marriage, Joyce shared “Anyone who knew Jack knows I’m the lucky one because he chose me to be his wife for 66 years,”
He spent over 50 years working as a die sinker for Frizzelle & Parsons, retiring in 2009. Jack’s passions were his family and fishing. He enjoyed going to the Smoky Mountains to visit his sister and brother-in-law, as well as his many fishing trips to Canada with Dave, family and friends. When he wasn’t fishing and spending time with family, you could find him working in his garden.
Jack was the Needham family’s rock, and he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce; two children, David Needham of Colona, Illinois, and Deborah Sanders of Davenport, Iowa; a grandson, Nicholas (Ashley) Sanders; great-grandsons, Elijah Sanders and Isaiah Sanders; a sister, Bertha (Roland) Franks of Maryville, Tennessee; a brother, Frank Needham, Jr. of Rock Island; sister-in-law, Marion Needham; brother-in-law, George Shirk; and several nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Barbara Shirk and James Needham; and a niece and nephew, Melissa Needham and Donald Franks.
The family would like to give special thanks to UnityPoint Hospice for the wonderful care given to Jack and invites friends to share stories and condolences at TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
