Jack Propes

Jackie "Jack" D. Propes, 81, passed away on Tuesday, April 22 nd, 2025, at his Heritage Lake home in Coatesville, Indiana.
Jack was born in Tompkinsville, KY on March 29, 1944, one of ten children of the late Martha Cordelia (Fansler) Propes and Albert Denton Propes.
Jack was a retired carpenter who had worked for several Indianapolis contractors including Stenz Corporation and Spivey Construction among others. He had a hand in some of Indy's most iconic restoration projects including the Madam C.J. Walker Theatre, Indiana
Repertory Theatre, Turnverein Apartments, the former Canterbury Hotel and others. Jack was an avid fisherman and loved hunting, especially for deer.
On January 16, 1965, Jack married Patricia Grace Feldman and by October 1, 1965, they were proud parents of their first child, Richard. Nearly 12 years later, they would welcome their second child, Joshua. After spending nearly 20 years of marriage in Indianapolis,
Jack and Grace fulfilled their dreams of home ownership and moved to Heritage Lake where they would live for the remainder of their 56 years of marriage until Grace's death on June 26, 2021. Honoring his final wish, Jack's family ensured he remained in his
beloved home until his death.
Jack is survived by his eldest son, Richard Dale Propes of Indianapolis, grandchildren Joshua Isaiah Propes, Denton James Propes, and Jackson Albert Propes, and sisters Becky Rhoton of Tompkinsville, KY and Patty Adams of Bowling Green, KY. Jack is also
survived by daughter-in-law Cindy Propes, brother-in-law Robert Feldman (and spouse Judy) along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia Grace (Feldman) Propes and youngest son Joshua Denton Propes
along with sisters Nancy Louise Spear, Shirley Vibbert, Nella Stewart and brothers Michael, Boyd, Mac, and Danny Ray Propes.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28th at Bousley Funeral Home in Coatesville, Indiana with burial to follow at Clear Creek Cemetery at Heritage Lake. Visitation for extended family and friends is from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Servants at Work (SAWS) in Indianapolis or TompKINDsville BOLO in Tompkinsville, KY.
