Jack Sepulveda Obituary Joaquin or commonly also known as Jack Sepulveda, a man with rough hands and a huge heart, passed away peacefully in his hometown of
Orange, California, on May 16, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on April 27, 1943, Jack's life was shaped by his strong work ethic and love for his family.
Jack's journey began as a young boy growing up in the orchards of El Modena, in the city of
Orange, California. His time as a schoolboy did not last long, as he was eager to work with his hands and explore the real world at the early age of 16. This laid the foundation for his future, one that gauged life by how much effort and sweat you were willing to put into it.
His life took a turn in 1969 when he met Brenda Gail Bowles a co-worker of his sister Maria, or Chata as we all knew her. One of Jack and Brenda's first encounters was at his brother Richard's wedding, where they flirted while on the dance floor. Jack and Brenda quickly became inseparable as they married a year later, embarking on a remarkable journey that would span over 53 years.
In his professional life, Jack was known as a man of brute force, certainly not known for refined work and definitely not afraid of physical labor. He was not patient and he learned by doing and trying. In 1969 he entered the pipefitter's union and became a welder and climbed the ranks to his eventual role as both a foreman and superintendent.
Jack liked to go hunting and fishing and started putting food on the table at a very early age. He enjoyed the hunt and it really didn't matter what he was hunting for. He was in his happy place if he could be driving, or what he called "roading", which entailed cruising the hills with his rifle, and a bag of Fritos. If he wasn't hunting deer or elk, he was talking about old stories and planning the next adventure.
He also loved his home. He tended to his orange and avocado trees with the same care and attention he gave to his family and his chickens. Jack was a farmer at heart, raising animals with a real passion for his birds.
Jack was also known as the man who could find a job for anyone in need, Jack's connections throughout Orange County were not just a network, but a lifeline for many. His dedication to helping others was a reflection of his generous spirit. However, he asked a lot of those that worked for him. With Brenda by his side, Jack also found joy in the simple pleasure of a weekend getaway to the local casinos, a pastime that brought them both excitement and laughter.
An early riser by nature, Jack's philosophy was simple: work hard and take care of your family. He hated seeing hands in pockets, just like he hated excuses and would not tolerate most vegetables or Asian foods. He loved his children very much, ensuring they grew up with the values and education he thought they needed to succeed in life. Later in life he also started enjoying the occasional Dodger game, an activity he and Brenda would enjoy together.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Sepulveda; his sons, Chugey and his wife Jeanine, Nicholas and his wife Kristin; his daughters, Jackie and her husband Jacen, Christina and her husband Sergio, and Felicia; his cherished grandchildren, Max, Sofia, Ija, Ines, Ollie, Mateo, and Rory; his brother Trino Sepulveda and sister Ofelia Sepulveda. He is preceded in death by his brother Richard Sepulveda and sisters, Noema and Maria Sepulveda.
Jack Sepulveda had a great life that was filled with hard work, laughter and family. Even at the end of his life, his hands were rougher than most of the hands that surround us today.
Let us remember Jack as the man who cared for his family above all, one who would say those things no one would dare to and the guy that you want with you when facing an adversary. His story will be remembered by most, as there was always a laugh to be had and often a lesson to be learned. Jack "Joaquin" Baiz Sepulveda, was a loving husband, a proud father and grandfather, and a man who put family first. Jack will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His spirit should inspire us to grab a shovel, put on a pair of jeans and get it done.
