Jack L. Shade, Jr., 84, of Lewistown, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

Born June 4, 1941, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Jack L. Shade, Sr. and Marjorie (Glace) Shade. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, J. Douglas Shade, his twin sister, Bonnie Hockenberry, and sister, Marjorie Shade.

On October 19, 1974, Jack married, Gerna (Hannon) Shade, with whom he shared more than 50 years of marriage. Along with his beloved wife, he is survived by his children, Stacey Piper and husband Steve of Lewistown, Rhonda Wingard and husband David of Reedsville, Jack Watson and wife Dana of Lewistown, Raelene Moore and husband Donald of Pueblo, CO, and Christine Myers and husband Steven of Lewistown; his brother, Barry Shade and wife Linda of Kansas; as well as many treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jack graduated from Chief Logan High School in 1959. A proud veteran, Jack faithfully served his country in the United States Army. Following his service, he built a long and dedicated career at Standard Steel, where he worked as a machine operator for 40 years.

Jack attended Vira United Methodist Church. He was also an active member of the Yeagertown Firehouse, where he formed lasting friendships.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal services.

Jack's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses of 365 Hospice for their care and support during his time of illness.

Memorial contributions in Jack's honor are encouraged to be made to Mifflin County Veteran Affairs, 20 N. Wayne St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
