Jack J. Strekal, Age 89. Beloved husband for over 60 years of Joyce (nee Scavnicky). Loving father of John (deceased) and Richard (Margie). Grandfather of Justin and Alex. Brother of the late Edward Strekal. Uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Jack proudly served in the Army Reserves as a field medic in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Jack worked with his father Jacob in the family home-building business (Euclid Masonry Co), and then in the family Real Estate business (Strekal Realty) in the 1960s and early 1970s. He followed that with a career in carpentry in the 1970s and 1980s and then returned to Real Estate in the 1990s and 2000s.

Jack’s greatest love was his family. He was proud to be married for over 60 years to Joyce. Closely following his love of family was his love for his Catholic faith, Slovenian heritage, the Cleveland Guardians and polka music. No matter where he was, if a musician was playing, he would request a polka, even if it wasn’t that type of music the musician specialized in.

Special thanks go to Emerald Village Assisted Living (Otterbein) and The Renaissance Skilled Nursing Facility who made Jack’s final months comfortable, peaceful and happy.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Jack at St. Richard’s Catholic Church, 26855 Lorain Road, North Olmsted 44070 at 10 AM on Saturday November 8th . Family will begin gathering at 9:30 AM at the church with the Mass beginning at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, please listen to a polka and then send donations in honor of Jack to St. Richard Catholic Church at 26855 Lorain Road, North Olmsted 44070 or The Renaissance Skilled Nursing Facility at 26376 John Road, Olmsted Township 44138.
