Please accept my Deepest Sympathy for your loss. I am sadden learning of the Captain's passing. I knew Captain Swaney from the Vietnam War. Captain Jack Swaney was the commanding officer CO of my company of grunts Bravo 4/3 in Nam the summer of 1970. I remember Captain Swaney very well. Something I always remember about the CO was the big smile he had on his face. Captain Swaney was a West Point graduate, an Infantry Officer. We humped all over those mountains' and valleys together in our area of operations. We were always humping The Bush that was what we did every day in that war. We shared many combat assaults; we shared many grueling days and lonely nights in that war. Grunts always arrived at our NDP site exhausted but the Captain's smile was always on his face. I haven't forgotten that. Captain Swaney was a very Good Soldier and much respected commander by his grunts. I would like to share two photos of the Captain both were taken on one of our Stand Downs; the only time we had a few days in the rear to get away from that war. They both show him smiling one with the Captain playing cards with his Grunts and one with his big broad smile with his Grunts all around him. Please accept Bravo Company's grunts Deepest Condolences from his fellow grunts.

My deepest sympathies to all the Swaney family. My sister has been a part of this family for over 40 years and although I wasn't in Jack's company very often when i was it was always fun and happy. He was a man that everyone in the Swaney Family should be very proud of and also our thanks for his service to our country as a veteran. May he rest in peace.

Dear Swaney Family,
I met Jack in 1960 - when his sister Mary invited me to visit Platte City after we met working on a dude ranch in Wyoming that summer.
I have known Mary ever since as the GREATEST friend . .and am disheartened at this news and the sad losses Jack endured of his children. It is tragic and my heart goes out to you and yet, I know the Swaney spirit and wish you patience as you heal and celebrate his life.
What a wonderful man!
With love from afar,

Jack Swaney was a legend in our house when I was growing up . He and my father were roommates at West Point and my father always spoke fondly of Jack. He sent me a handwritten letter on my wedding day that I still have to this day. My heart is heavy- Jack brought light and love to this world .

During play practice one night when Anne was in high school, Jack came across the gym floor smiling from ear to ear - he was carrying 10 large pizzas for the kids.
This is one small example of his generosity and love for the community. Thank you for always bringing out the best in people. You will be missed.

Jack was a great man! He was our family's denist for many years. I had a lot of fun cutting up and laughing with him and his dental family even when he was grinding on my teeth. He will be missed by many. Our deepest condolences Doug and Kristie Pinson and family.

Many fond memories of our playing days at west point. No matter how hard things would get in practice jack always had a smile for everyone and an invariably positive attitude. Great fun in the few times we got loose on the road or in new york city. I only regret that i did not try harder to get together with jack as we all shared a special bond.

We lived in Platte City from 1980 until 1987. During that time, Jack was our family dentist. It was a pleasure to know him. A wonderful man that will be missed by his family, his community, and old acquaintances. Our sympathy to all.

Jed and I hope God gives all of you Strength and love during this terrible, terrible time of loss. Jack was a peach of a guy. We moved here 35 years ago, and Jack became our dentist. He always sympathised with his patients, but his sense of humor always made it bearable. We will miss him and hope he is resting in peace in the arms of the Lord with John and Anne.
