Jack Wendt, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord on March 14, 2026, at the age of 100 in Allegan, Michigan. Born on December 7, 1925, in Laporte, Indiana, Jack’s remarkable century-long journey was one marked by dedication, laughter, and an unwavering zest for life.

Jack’s life was a testament to service and spirit. In 1943, during a pivotal time in history, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, training as a pilot flying the B-25 bomber. His commitment to his country laid a foundation of strength and courage that resonated through every chapter of his life.

Known for living life to the fullest, Jack was often described as the life of the party, a handyman extraordinaire, and a steadfast referee for high school football and basketball games. He also was an umpire for baseball.  His ever-present smile and captivating stories were a source of delight for those fortunate enough to know him.  Whether during is 32-year career at AAA, or his daily swims at the Kalamazoo YMCA until his 93rd year. No problem was too big or too small; he met each challenge with a steady hand and a wise mind, leaving behind a legacy rich with love and laughter.

Jack’s family was the heart of his world. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Marjorie, who stood by his side through all seasons of life, seven children and their spouses who carry forward his values, sixteen grandchildren who remember his laughter and smile, and nine great-grandchildren (preceded in death by one great-granddaughter).

In the last few years of his life, Jack faced the challenges of dementia. During this time, he resided at the Allegan County Medical Care Community where he received excellent care, dignity in his decline, a comfort to his family who are deeply grateful for the compassion and respect shown to him.

Jack Wendt’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with courage, resilience, and an abundance of love. Though he leaves this world, his spirit—the smile, the stories, the solutions, and above all, the laughter—will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him. He lived fully, loved deeply, and leaves behind an enduring family legacy. Jack will be celebrated at a private family service.
