Jack Thomas Williams, 74, of Tavares, Florida, passed away peacefully Friday, February 7, 2025. Jack was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to a military family on the move. He enjoyed his early life in Puerto Rico at Ramey Air Force Base, Aguadilla where he attended the highly rated school on the base with many activities. The next assignment for this military family was to the north country of Plattsburgh, AFB and his assigned school was in Peru, NY. He was manager of the high school basketball team. The family's last tour of duty was to McCoy AFB in Orlando, Florida where Jack graduated from Maynard Evans High School in 1968. He graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from Valencia Community college. He attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland where he earned a Military Science degree and was commissioned a first Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Upon his Honorary Discharge he proceeded to further his education at the University of Central Florida and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Guidance and School Counseling and a master's degree in liberal arts. He worked for the Seminole County School District and taught social studies and worked in the Gifted Studies Program. Jack was a generous soul and enjoyed helping and giving to others. He donated to many causes and touched many students with his enthusiasm for learning. He had many interests including studying genealogy and theology. Jack enjoyed taking care of his approximately one-acre property and no task was too formidable for him, when after a hurricane, he took on nine large fallen trees with an electric chain saw. His thoughtfulness and kindness will be missed. Jack is predeceased by his parents, Jack Milton Williams, retired USAF WWII veteran of Sumner, Ga. and Elba Francia Arevalo-Williams of Ponce, Puerto Rico. He is survived by his sister, Lindy and Brother-in-Law, Jerry Voorhees of Tavares, FL, Arlene and Robert Olson and Ronnie Olson of St. Cloud, FL and numerous extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in his name may be made to a charity of your choice.
