Jackie Lee Babcock, a beloved man in the hearts of many, passed away on November 9, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. Born on December 6, 1956, in the town of Grantville, Jackie lived a life replete with purpose and dedication. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Cheryl Babcock, and his devoted son, Jackie Babcock Jr., who have inherited his spirit and unwavering kindness. His best friend, Miranda Channel, loved him dearly and will profoundly miss the times they shared. Jackie also leaves behind his treasured grandson, Jon'Quil Phelps, who looked up to his grandfather with admiration and love.
Jackie's life was a tapestry woven with hard work and an indomitable spirit. For most of his life, he was a roofer, a career that shaped not only his days but also his character, instilling in him a sense of craftsmanship and pride in everything he did. He embraced the complexities of construction, having built houses and devoted years to the mechanic trade. Whether fixing tow trucks, trash trucks, or anything else that needed a little TLC, his hands were never idle.
A man of many facets, Jackie was known as a good, kind-hearted soul—a gentle giant with a heart that was as big as the sky. He would go to extraordinary lengths for anyone in need, offering his unique blend of reliability and honesty. Stubbornly hard-headed yet comical, he was someone who would heartily tell you like it is, with a sincerity that could be both refreshing and, at times, disarming. Jackie was a genuine person, someone you could always count on, embodying the very essence of trustworthiness.
Jackie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for mechanic work that surpassed mere occupation; it was a calling that brought him immense satisfaction. Fishing was another of his cherished pursuits, where he found peace and camaraderie in nature. And like any true Kansas warrior, he reveled in watching Chief's Football, passionately rooting for his team with an enthusiasm that rallied friends and family alike.
Jackie joins his beloved wife, Carol Babcock, who predeceased him, along with his parents, Dorothy and Harry J Babcock Sr. Though they are gone, their love and teachings continue to echo in the lives of their family and friends.
As we remember Jackie Lee Babcock, we say farewell to a one-of-a-kind individual whose spirit touched the lives of many. He may have left this earth but will forever remain alive in our memories, cherished for his love, laughter, and loyalty. The world is a little dimmer without him, but it is undoubtedly brighter for having known him.
