It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Jackie Thomas "Jack" Flack, who left this world on July 16, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Wilmington, NC, on September 7, 1946, Jack departed peacefully at his home in Rocky Point, NC.

Jack was a true embodiment of service, adventure, and dedication. A proud alumnus of New Hanover High School's class of 1964, he pursued further studies in Industrial Electronics at CFCL. Shortly thereafter, his patriotic spirit led him to enlist in the United States Navy in September 1964, where he served his country with distinction. As a Petty Officer Third Class, Jack received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. His commitment to his fellow servicemen and veterans continued throughout his life. Jack also proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with the Winter Park Volunteer Fire Department in Wilmington during the 1960s, dedicating his time and courage to protecting his community. His commitment to service reflected his generous spirit and deep sense of responsibility.

Following his military service, Jack dedicated himself to supporting veterans through his volunteer work at the Sgt. Eugene Ashley Center, a transitional residence and recovery center for those who served. His passion for advocacy extended to his active membership in Rolling Thunder, a motorcycle group committed to the cause of POW/MIA and veterans' rights.

A man of varied interests, Jack found joy in the open road, riding his motorcycle, and exploring the depths of the ocean as an open water scuba diver. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of sports, albeit with one exception-he never cheered for the Saints. His love for guns and marksmanship was well-known among friends and family.

Deeply rooted in faith, Jack was a devoted member of Northside Baptist Church. His commitment to the Second Amendment and responsible gun ownership was reflected in his membership with the NRA.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Thomas Mills Flack and Florence Inez Dobbins, brother Ubert F. Flack, and nephew Randy Flack. He leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and devoted family: his loving wife Kim Flack, his son Michael Shah, his sister Cynthia Ione Flack, sister-in-laws Faye and Carolyn F. Flack, and nephews Jeff Flack, Michael Flack, and Curtis Flack, along with many more extended family members and friends. Jack's influence and warmth extended far beyond his family, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jack's memory may be made to the New Hanover County Humane Society, reflecting his enduring love for animals.

As we celebrate Jack's life, we are reminded of the quote, "A life lived in service to others is a life truly well-lived." Jack exemplified this ideal, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Please leave memories and condolences for Jack's family under "Share a Memory".
