"If a man's from Texas, he'll tell you. If he's not, why embarrass him by asking?" - John Gunther
A life-long Texan, even when far from its borders, Jackie "Jack" Frazier left this mortal world on Monday, November 10, 2025.
The baby of the family, Jack was born on April Fool's Day 1935, to parents Lillian Eula Heirtzler and John Henry Frazier. Older brothers Ray (b. 1915), Roy (b. 1918), Carter (b. 1920) and John (Snookie, b. 1924) have all preceded him in death.
Jack witnessed 90 years of change on this earth and went from riding to school on a horse to traveling the world, including living in countries in the middle and far east.
After graduating from Hardin High School in 1953, Jack briefly attended Lamar College, which had been founded four years earlier. He left Lamar and went into the working world, enjoying post-war fast cars and dancing the 'dirty bop.'
In 1956, Jack married Patsy Ann Perrodin, and in 1959 they welcomed their son, Michael Louis Frazier. Patsy and Jack divorced, and subsequently Michael took his stepfather's name. Mikel Weisser passed in May of 2020.
Jack courted, and then married, Madeleine Claire Bessette in Victoria, Texas in October 1967. It was the second marriage for both.
Jack took a leap of opportunity, and he and Madeleine relocated to Great Bend, Kansas, where Jack started working for the Fluor Corporation at the Bushton site. His focus on bookeeping and timekeeping details set the stage for future projects with Fluor. After Great Bend, they traveled to Puerto Rico, where Jack worked on the refinery project in Yabucoa. Daughter Erin Louise was welcomed in Caguas, Puerto Rico, in 1970.
The family followed projects and opportunities with Fluor for the following decade, including international stays in Cilacap, Indonesia and several locations in Saudi Arabia. When traveling to new sites or coming back stateside, the family would often include adventures in global locations, including Japan and much of Europe. Jack continued with Fluor for the better part of fifteen years.
In 1980, the family settled on a home base near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and welcomed son Keith Carlin.
Jack and Madeline became realtors, purchasing the Hayden Lake-based firm, Goldenwest. They divorced in 1986, and Jack continued to work for Coeur d'Alene-area realty firms, developing deep expertise in the North Idaho real estate industry and retiring from Century 21 Beutler & Associates.
Throughout his life, Jack was an avid stereophile, pouring over magazines, selecting the 'perfect' equipment and collecting albums that showcased great sound engineering. His favorite movie was "The Hunt for Red October," and he was moved every time he recited the famous line, "I would have liked to have seen Montana."
Jack moved to Lafayette, Colorado in 2023 to spend the rest of his days in managed care and to be close to his daughter. He celebrated his 90th birthday this past April, and then steadily declined after a broken hip in late May. Many thanks for the compassion and care given by the team at Winding Trails Post Acute and the hospice team at TRU Community Care.
Jack is survived by daughter Erin, son Keith, and grandsons Holden, Jonas and Thomas. Memorial arrangements are pending, with Jack being laid to rest near his mother at the Redwood Baptist Church Cemetery in Slaughter, East Feliciana Parish, LA.
