It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved JACKIE “LA 49er” QUINTANA. Our Matriarch, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 22, 2024 as she was surrounded by her loving family.
Jackie was a beautiful, loving soul. Her love and devotion for her family, especially her grandchildren, was beyond measure. Jackie was a cook for Hernandez Elementary school and Los Alamos National Laboratory. Her generosity and caring for others had no bounds. Her heart of gold and contagious, beautiful smile immediately flourished strangers to friends and extended family. Jackie was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan, dubbed as “LA 49er”. She had a passion for camping, family gatherings and cooking. If you went to visit, it was a sure guarantee you wouldn’t leave unfed. Her incredible sense of humor and glorious contagious smile will be greatly missed.
Jackie is preceded in death by her son, Lee A Quintana Jr. ; her grandson Aaron Jacob; her parents, Jacobo and Lydia Maestas of Hernandez; brothers, Roy Maestas and Michael Maestas; sisters, Dollie Bustos, Marilyn Trujillo and JoAnn Lucero; and many more beloved family members.
Jackie is survived by her husband Lee Quintana “Mr Q”; daughter, Rachel Quintana (Mark); her grandchildren, Phillip Benavidez Jr. (Billy), LeeAnn Trujillo (Zach), Adrian Martinez (Lizeth), LeeAnn Quintana, Jehoran Quintana; her great-granddaughters, Shania and Renesa .
She is also survived by her sisters, Naomi (Ralph) Trujillo and Patricia (Lawrence) Vigil, all of Hernandez; brothers, Walter Maestas and Tony Sena of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Viola Maestas of Pueblo, CO; brother-in-law, Vicente Trujillo of Rio Rancho; and many more family members and friends.
Public visitation will be Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a Rosary to follow at 1:00 P.M. at San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez with a Mass of Christian burial at 2:00 P.M. at San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez. Burial to follow at San Jose Catholic Cemetery in Hernandez with the following serving as pallbearers, Ralph Trujillo, Lawrence Vigil, Phillip Benavidez Sr., Ernest Maestas Jr., Derek Trujillo, Eric Trujillo, Harold Bustos and Brian Balkey. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Welsh, Daniel Trujillo, and all her grandchildren.
The family of Jackie Quintana has entrusted the care of their precious Jackie to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
