Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral and Cremation Greenridge Chapel - GreenfieldJacob Allen Basterash, known affectionately to friends and family as Jake, passed away on November 18, 2025, at the age of 30. Born on January 10, 1995, in Milwaukee, WI, Jake lived a life marked by kindness, humor, and a deep love for his family and the great outdoors.
Jacob is survived by a loving family that includes his father and best friend as well as stepmother, Corey, and Sherry Basterash; his mother, Tia Kral; and his siblings, Matt (Kelsey) Bump, Brandan Kral, Samuel Basterash, and Lola Basterash. His memory will also be cherished by his grandparents, Sue (late Dennis) Basterash, the late Tim (Tracie) Sevener, and the late Roger (Janice) McNitt. His great-grandmother, Vera Sevener "Granny Red," held a special place in his heart. He leaves behind a host of aunts and uncles, Holly Basterash, Sara (Greg) Beals, Joel Basterash, Bryan (Amanda) Sevener, Jason (Jessie) Sevener, Danielle (Shawn) Usina-Sevener, Shawna (Josh) Sevener-Chitwood, Rick (Caroline) McNitt, and Steve "Cheesey" McNitt, who will miss his warmth and laughter.
Jacob's educational journey began at Whitnall High School and concluded with his graduation from Penn Foster. He carried the discipline and perseverance he learned in school into his work in the food service industry, where he was known for his willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. His assistance was especially appreciated by his Grandma Sue, who could always count on him for support.
An avid lover of nature, Jacob found solace and joy in fishing and hunting. He had a profound respect for wildlife and a tender affection for animals, especially his beloved dogs. Those who knew Jacob will recall his culinary skills with fondness; he enjoyed cooking and often shared his delicious creations with family and friends. His zest for life was evident in his hobbies, which included regular walks and a commitment to exercising, practices that reflected his understanding of the importance of both mental and physical well-being.
Jacob's character was the epitome of loving kindness. He was the person who could always be counted on to bring humor to any situation, lightening the hearts of those around him. His laughter was infectious, and his genuine concern for others made him a beacon of light in the lives of many. In every aspect of his life
Jacob was a pillar of love and joy. His sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire us. Through cherished memories and the countless lives he touched, Jacob's legacy will endure. He was a remarkable person whose presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
We bid farewell to Jacob Allen Basterash, a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend. While we mourn his absence, we celebrate the time we had with him and the countless ways he enriched our lives.
